Norwalk Police investigation said to net nine stores selling alcohol to minors
Nine retail establishments were found to be selling liquor to minors Friday in a Norwalk Police compliance operation. a news release said. Three stores were following the law. Norwalk Police have received complaints from parents that minors are purchasing alcohol at several Norwalk markets, bodegas and liquor stores, the news release said. Connecticut law requires merchants to ask customers for proof that they are at least 21 years old before selling them alcohol. The Norwalk Police Department Special Services Division and the Special Victims Unit conducted an investigation, with the help of students under 21 years old.

Planet Fitness is celebrating Veterans Day by giving free week-long “PF Black Card” memberships to veterans, active-duty military, and their friends and family good through Friday Nov. 17. Black Card holders can use Planet Fitness’ facilities including Hydro Massage and Massage Chairs and can bring a guest each day at any of the chain’s 2,400 U.S. locations. NPD seeks witnesses to hit-and-run accident
Norwalk Police seek witnesses to a Tuesday morning South Norwalk accident, in which a pedestrian was injured. Norwalk Combined Dispatch received reports of an evading motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Madison Street at 5 a.m. Tuesday, a news release said. Officers arriving at the scene found a victim who’d been hit by the vehicle, and he was transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Norwalk Police have issued a Silver Alert for Tania Hernandez, who is described as a 43-year-old woman, approximately 5’ 2” tall, weighing 100 pounds with brownish red hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a green or black jacket, khaki skirt and sneakers. Hernandez suffers from medical conditions and was last seen Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Rilling wins sixth term; Scicchitano counts positives
Democratic Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling shed tears of joy Tuesday after learning he’d prevailed over Republican challenger Vinny Scicchitano to win a sixth two-year term. “I can’t tell you what this means to me,” Rilling said, breaking up a bit. “In 2013, you took this homegrown boy, and you trusted him to run your city as its Mayor. And I promised you then that I would be a Mayor for all the people, bringing transparency and accountability to the city of Norwalk government. I believe by the results tonight, they have confirmed that I delivered.”
Norwalk Dems set to dominate Council, Board of Education
