Republicans say omission of party affiliation is not intentional
Most Democratic and Independent campaign literature highlights party affiliation. Some Republicans don’t mention it at all. It would be easy for some to think the omission is due to Donald Trump’s unpopularity in Connecticut but Mayoral candidate Vinny Scicchitano and Council at-Large candidate Richard Bonenfant say otherwise. “We...

Why John Levin deserves your vote for Norwalk At Large Common Council
First full disclosure, I am John’s wife of 32 years though I have kept my family name and show no signs of a blue beard, except by association. Many might be tempted to write John off because of his appearance – don’t do it. This is the...
The Blue Beard Guy
I first met John Levin in August of 1995. I was six years old and I’d just spent the last few years living in Croatia as a refugee from Bosnia, where I was born. I remember he had this loud laugh and perhaps most importantly for me at the time, he had a pool at his house.
Norwalk needs political diversity
What do national political personalities or issues have to do with Norwalk’s local elections? Nothing, they simply distract, so local issues never see the light of day. Such has been the case for nearly a decade. The increased polarization of our two-party system has resulted in states dominated by Republican or Democrat governments. Connecticut is no exception. Single political party rule has concentrated power. Accountability and transparency have fallen by the wayside. Incumbents are returned to office 95% of the time, with our winner take all system versus proportional representation. It’s a vicious cycle.
Remember to vote Tuesday
The League of Women Voters Of Norwalk wants to remind everyone to vote next Tuesday, Nov. 7. Voter turnout rates are notoriously low for local (aka municipal) elections in Connecticut. In the most recent one, 2021, only 32% of eligible voters turned out to vote in their local election. Local elections have a much more direct impact on the daily lives of voters: the quality of their roads and infrastructure, the quality of the schools, important environmental concerns, planning and zoning decisions. That’s why it’s important to turn out to vote in every election.

Common Council At-Large: Jo Bennett
Describe how your occupation will assist you in serving Norwalk and give three brief but specific examples, including what committees on which you hope to serve. I am a recruitment marketing professional – which I realize isn’t a familiar job title for many people! My role is to help my company attract quality job candidates. You widen that aperture, and one glaring Norwalk need is to attract businesses that are looking to attract quality job candidates with well-paying jobs – and in turn, provide homeowners some relief from our constantly escalating tax burden.
Vote Paladino for City Sheriff
I think Ron Paladino would make an excellent Norwalk City Sheriff. He is kind, honest, hard-working, and reasonable. A good person who cares about people and our city, a lifelong resident of Norwalk for almost 65 years. For the four years I have known him and the 56 years my...
