Norwalk Police arrest man after Lowe Street stabbing
A Norwalk man was arrested and held on $500,000 bond after a Friday evening stabbing at his Lowe Street home, Norwalk Police said. Patrol officers responding to a 10:07 p.m. 911 call found a male victim who had been stabbed in his left forearm, sternum, and left leg, the news release said. Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim’s left arm and applied pressure on the wounds to the victim’s sternum and leg to control the bleeding.

Norwalk Planning and Zoning Commission approves waterfront study after adjustment to Water Street section
The Norwalk Planning and Zoning Commission voted to adopt the waterfront industrial study as a part of its overall Plan of Conservation and Development, with one significant change to the proposal. The approved resolution states that the “rezoning of Water Street Marine Commercial Zone should be reconsidered only after the City has determined the appropriate solutions for the ongoing flooding on Water Street.”
United Church of Rowayton announces new pastor
Rev. Sal Sapienza is unanimously chosen to be United Church of Rowayton’s next settled pastor, succeeding Rev. John Livingston, who retired in 2022. Sapienza, a New York City native, spent the past 10 years as the senior pastor of Douglas United Church of Christ in Saugatuck/Douglas, Michigan, where his sermons amassed over 500,000 YouTube views and the congregation’s membership quadrupled during his tenure. His Michigan years also included stints as UCC Grand West Association Council Moderator and as a two-time-elected UCC General Synod Delegate. An NYU and All Faiths Seminary graduate, he previously taught high school English for 12 years, and he established St. Francis AIDS Ministry in Manhattan with Father Mychal Judge (“The Saint of 9/11”).
NPD offers Citizen Police Academy
Get an inside look at Norwalk Police Department operations by enrolling in the Norwalk Citizen Police Academy 2023. Starting on Tuesday Oct. 10, a total of 10 sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 until 9 p.m. at Police Headquarters, located at 1 Monroe St. in SoNo. Attendees will tour the building, meet NYPD brass, and ride in the police car with an on-duty officer.
Maritime Aquarium events include ‘Ok2berfest Cruises,’ teacher weekend, 4D film
The Maritime Aquarium’s “Ok2berfest Cruises” co-sponsored by Norwalk Seaport Association and Two Roads Brewing shove off at 4 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 21 and Saturday Oct. 28 according to a news release. Passengers will see distant views of the Norwalk Islands’ fall foliage while enjoying specialty beers from Two Road and, German-inspired small bites. You’ll be asked for ID proving that you’re at least 21. Dress warmly and bring a jacket. Tickets are said to be at www.maritimeaquarium.org.
Norwalk spending $75K on Halloween event at SoNo 50
The City is splurging on two upcoming South Norwalk holiday celebrations, planning events that are bigger and more exciting than ever before.
