Tough End In Title Game For Knights
The hope was that the third time would be the charm for the Sandwich High School boys’ lacrosse team. Unfortunately that was not the case last Saturday, June 15. For the third season in a row the Blue Knights had their season end in the Division 4 state championship game, watching the other team celebrate a title. Gary Hamblin, 69, a native of Nantucket and longtime pillar of the community, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 in his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Gary was born Feb. 15, 1955 to the late Donna and George Hamblin and grew up in their home on Delaney Road. He was an only child, but Gary lived a life that was anything but lonely, warmly welcoming scores of people into his heart.

STR subcommittee rolls out its recommendations
(June 20, 2024) Nantucket's short-term rental subcommittee on Thursday reached a framework for regulating STRs that it hopes to bring to Special Town Meeting in September. It includes a limit of one STR property per owner, eight rental contracts in July and August, and no limit on rental contracts in the offseason. It also includes some legacy protection for current STR owners.
