Barstool owner rescued by Coast Guard after losing control of boat off Nantucket
The owner and founder of the website Barstool Sports lost control of a boat off Nantucket before being rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard. Dave Portnoy said in a TikTok video that the harrowing Monday rescue happened after he unhooked his boat from buoys. He says heavy winds then caused him to drift out to sea. Portnoy said another boater saw that he was in distress and radioed the Coast Guard. A Coast Guard spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that Portnoy’s 28-foot boat broke free of a mooring and was drifting through the area.

Debris has begun washing up on the southern shores of Nantucket after an offshore wind turbine was damaged Saturday. Vineyard Wind will deploy teams to search Nantucket's southern beaches for any debris that has washed ashore after one of its offshore wind turbine blades was damaged. The company announced Tuesday morning that it would embark on new efforts to clean up pieces of fiberglass that might land on Nantucket and, with the help of the U.S. Coast Guard, maintain a "safety zone" of 500 meters around the impacted turbine about 15 miles away from the islands.

A turbine blade at the Vineyard Wind offshore wind farm sustained damage Saturday, sending pieces of fiberglass into the water, the company said. Debris has been moving toward Nantucket from the location of the turbines, 15 miles southwest of the island and south of Martha’s Vineyard.
