    Columbus Day no more, the October holiday is now officially Indigenous Peoples' Day

    (Oct. 7, 2021) The Monday holiday long known as Columbus Day will officially be known as Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Nantucket, starting this Monday. “Look at the true history. Columbus didn’t do anything positive for indigenous people,” Darius Coombs, cultural outreach coordinator for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, said. “He killed, spread disease, and stole.
