MAN CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE DUE IN COURT FOR STATUS CONFERENCE
A status conference is scheduled for today for a man charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and other crimes. Court documents show that 24-year-old Reed Tantlinger of Homer City will go before President Judge Thomas Bianco for the conference today. Along with the previously mentioned charge, he is accused of accident where the victim dies, two counts of DUI-controlled substance, along with seven summary traffic counts in connection with an incident on January 7th, 2023 that killed 25-year-old Hunter McCloskey. The crash happened in the Westbound lanes of Route 422 in Pine Township as Tantlinger allegedly rear-ended McCloskey’s vehicle, pushing him into several boulders and a utility pole along the side of the road. Tantlinger fled the scene but was later found at a relative’s house.
Victim identified in fatal crash near Coalport
The victim of Saturday morning's fatal crash near Coalport has been identified, according to Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder. Fishing derby
The ICHTHYS Bass Club of Altoona held its 16th annual Jack Swisher Memorial Fishing Derby on May 25 at Canoe Creek State Park, Hollidaysburg. A total of 11 children from Juniata Valley Elementary School spent the morning and afternoon with the club members. The children were given a derby T-shirt, a tackle box filled with fishing items and also a quality rod and reel to keep. The children were given safety instructions on the proper way to use their fishing equipment by Dale A. Harten, club president. Each child was partnered with a member or volunteer and went fishing for several hours. Lunch was provided. The club raised about $1,500 for the event. Donations were made by the following sponsors (all are from Altoona except where noted): Colleen Swisher, Frostburg, Fla.; Horseshoe Curve Chapter of the Harley Owners Group; DJ’s Cafe, Tyrone; American Legion Riders Post 520, Alexandria; Hamers Auto Body and Towing; Intrepid Design LLC; Rudy’s Lawn Care, Port Matilda; Double Tap Indoor Gun Range; Shields Brothers and Mallow’s Hardware. Road Work Set For Jackson and Concord Townships
Several local roads will be shut down later this week in Jackson and Concord Townships. In Jackson Township, Pattison Street Extension will be closed for three to four weeks beginning Wednesday.
