The Northern Appalachian Folk Festival has announced the first recipients of a newly-created award meant to honor those who have made significant achievements in poetry. Jack Smith, Nick Brisini and Danny Meagher will be awarded the title of “Poet Laureates of Northern Appalachia” at ceremonies on Saturday, September 7th during the annual festival. The three are currently working on a book of poetry that was recently submitted to WVU Press for publication later this year.
