Arlan D. Barkman
Arlan D. Barkman, 93, of Martinsburg, formerly of Woodbury, passed away on July 7, 2024, at Homewood in Martinsburg. He was born on April 22, 1931, in Woodbury, son of the late Lester Carl and Alma Ruth (Boor) Barkman. On May 17, 1951 in Winchester, Va., he was united in marriage to Dolores J. (Pepple) Barkman who preceded him in death on June 5, 2022.

STRUZZI APPOINTED TO OPIOID MISUSE AND ADDICTION ABATEMENT TRUST BOARD
State Representative Jim Struzzi has been appointed to the Opioid Misuse and Addiction Abatement Trust. The appointment was made by House Minority Leader Bryan Cutler. The trust distributes settlement funds from opioid manufacturers, distributors and pharmacy chains to the state, its counties and municipalities to help stop the opioid crisis.

The Friends of Caldwell Memorial Library will have their 17th annual Used Book and Basket Raffle Sale in August. Joanne Previc, publicity chair of the Friends of CML, added in an email last weekend, “Books (fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, biographies, young adult and children) to be donated for the sale may be brought to the Caldwell Memorial Library, located in the Derry Area High School, 988 N. Jane E. Detwiler, age 97, a resident at Colonial Courtyard At Bedford, formerly of East Freedom, died Monday evening, July 1, 2024, at the home. She was born November 13, 1927, in Lewistown, the daughter of the late John F. and Vera I. (Gates) Eckman. She married Robert A. Detwiler, who preceded her in death on February 16, 1974.
