Errors contribute to Curve’s streak ending
The Altoona Curve’s seven-game win streak came to an end with a 2-1 loss to the Bowie Baysox Friday night in front of 4,610 fans at PNG Field. It was an uncharacteristically bad night defensively for the Curve, who had three errors against the Baysox, two of which led to both runs being unearned.
J&P Auto picks up playoff win
Aspen Anderson pitched and hit J&P Auto Mart to a 12-3 win over Home Instead in an Altoona Teener League 15U Double Elimination Tournament game at Seitz Field Friday night. Anderson finished with nine strikeouts and no walks while holding Home Instead to one hit. On offense, he had two hits and three RBIs. Teammate Avin Horton added two hits and two RBIs to go with two hits each from Lucas Gority, Anthony Riccio and Braden Pike.

Airport switches route to Charlotte
MARTINSBURG — The Altoona-Blair County Airport will redirect its 30-passenger jet service to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport beginning Oct. 1. During the Airport Authority Board of Directors’ regular meeting Wednesday, Airport Manager Tracy Plessinger said the Federal Department of Transportation approved the airport’s application for a nearly $28 million four-year funding agreement to provide daily nonstop service to the Charlotte-based airport.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The 2024 Ridgerunner Junior Golf Tour made a stop this past week at the Scotch Valley Country Club where seven different winners won their respective events. Crosby Denis shot a 74 to win the girls 18-hole tournament. Laila Panaro was second at 99. In the boys age 16-17 group, Alex Talmadge won at 71, followed by Brody Partner (77) and Caden Miller (78).
TROOPERS INVESTIGATING DEATH IN WHITE TOWNSHIP
State police are investigating the death of a man that occurred in White Township. Troopers say the man, who was not named in reports, died sometime overnight near Trotter’s Restaurant. They add there is no reason to believe this death is suspicious, but they are continuing to investigate and an autopsy was ordered.

Drugs taken from downtown Indiana Rite Aid
Indiana Borough Police Department has released more information about Monday night's robbery of drugs from Rite Aid along Philadelphia and Fourth streets in downtown Indiana. "After the robbery," Indiana Police Chief Justin Schawl said in a Tuesday afternoon update, "the suspects ran on foot into the 300 block of Water Street heading toward the intersection of Third and Water Street. Evidence suggests a vehicle transported at least one, if not all three, suspects out of Indiana Borough eastbound on Philadelphia Street."
