10th annual Chernisky Classic benefits Cambria County Firefighters
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The 10th Annual Chernisky Classic took place Saturday morning, with walkers and runners converging at the Ghost Town Trailhead in Ebensburg. Cambria County Commissioner Tom Chernisky announced that 100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Cambria Regional Firefighters Association Training Facility.

Mary Ann (Koehle) Weakland died July 4, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Altoona, PA March 25, 1938 on the feast of the Annunciation, to the late Aloysius B. and Bertha (Greiner) Koehle, she was a 1956 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She married Ronald C. Weakland at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altoona on May 21, 1960.

HOOVERSVILLE ― The borough's historic "swinging bridge" is closed temporarily for repairs. On June 30. someone called the borough to report a section of the 180-foot-long pedestrian suspension bridge had collapsed, said Jennifer Robertson, borough secretary. Now, there are barricades and signs on either side of the bridge to prevent anyone from trying to walk across.

TESTING PERIOD EXTENDED FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT AT WARREN ROAD/INDIAN SPRINGS ROAD INTERSECTION
At Wednesday’s White Township Supervisors meeting, it was announced that the testing period for a township traffic light has been extended due to minor tweaks made to it. Township Manager Chris Anderson said the testing period for the traffic light at the Warren Road/Indian Springs Road intersection was extended until August 1st after some adjustments were made to the timing of pedestrian and left turn signals. While he adds no structural or equipment problems were reported, these types of tweaks are common.
