As Hurricane Milton inched closer to Florida 's west coast as it neared landfall late Wednesday afternoon, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said all their inmates were safe.

Karie Partington, spokesperson for the Collier County Sheriff's Office, said they did not have to evacuate their inmates, whose headcount stood at 733 Wednesday afternoon.

According to the 5 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Milton had been downgraded to a Category 3 hurricane with 120 mph sustained winds in a northward direction.

What evacuation zone do Collier County inmates fall into?

The Collier County Sheriff's Office consists of two correctional facilities, according to its website — the Naples Jail Center, 3347 Tamiami Trl. E., and the Immokalee Jail Center, 302 Stockade Rd.

According to Collier County's evacuation zone map, the Naples Jail Center falls into Evacuation Zone C, while the Immokalee site is in Collier County's Evacuation Zone F, which is their least vulnerable evacuation zone.
