Naples (Fla.) First Baptist Academy four-star receiver Jayden Petit may have already visited Miami twice this year, but after attending the Hurricanes’ end-of-summer recruiting cookout at the end of July, the 2026 prospect is hoping to make at least one more trip to South Florida before the end of the year.

Petit, a 6-foot-4, 196-pound wideout who hauled in more than 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns in his sophomore season, is holding meaningful interest in the Hurricanes after an encouraging visit, he told CaneSport . The No. 156 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 26 receiver in the 2026 class has been high on receivers coach Kevin Beard and assistant David Cooney .

“The interactions are good,” Petit said. “I was coming back just to see people I already know. The recruiting process has been really good. I really enjoy being over there. It’s like family. It’s the coaching staff. We learn something new every day (visiting Miami), and I really enjoy that.”

Petit said he appreciates Beard’s hands-on technical approach to coaching his receivers and has already offered pointers to improve his game. He said he believes the tips Beard has offered on his release and how to better break out of his route will translate well to the college level and have made him a better player.

“It shows what you can learn on an everyday basis being with a coach,” Petit said. “I feel like that’s a big part of a decision, because you’re going to learn something new every day and you’re going to be at that college for three or four years. Just learning those things helps me out a lot.”

Clemson, UCF and USF have also made impressions early after Petit visited the three schools earlier this year. He has not yet locked in any fall visits but knows he wants to return to Miami.

    CaneSport’s Take

Petit is the exact type of receiver Miami is hoping to land in future classes: big, physical, a polished route runner and has the ability to extend over smaller cornerbacks for 50/50 balls. Petit was one of Florida’s most productive receivers as a sophomore and promptly landed on Miami’s radar before receiving a blue-chip ranking from major recruiting databases. If he has another major year this fall, we could see Miami turn up the heat around the start of next year.
