More recently, many people believed Rubio was a top candidate to be Donald Trump's running mate for the 2024 elections, which eventually went to Ohio Senator J.D. Vance. But Florida Republicans argue that there is another door that could open for Rubio, as they see him as top contender for another high-profile job in a future Trump administration.

Immokalee Felon Javier Joel Perez Sentenced to 8 Years for Drug Trafficking and Firearm Charges
Javier Joel Perez, a 46-year-old resident of Immokalee, has been sentenced to 8 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges related to drug and gun offenses. U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber handed down the sentence, as Perez faced consequences for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the ruling on July 19, following a guilty plea entered earlier this year on February 21.
