What’s Happening: Waterman Eco-Challenge & Summer Safe Ocean State

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — The 14th annual Waterman Eco-Challenge is partnering with RI DEM to host “Summer Safe Ocean State” on Saturday, July 20.

The event will be hosted at Roger Wheeler State Beach and includes a 5K road race, open water swim & paddle races and a public education event area on the beach.

The campaign aims to raise awareness and funds toward educational pillars: drowning prevention, cardiac health & cancer prevention, and protecting the coastal environment. Rip current awareness, skin cancer screenings, CPR & AED instructional, coastal sustainability are some of the activities open to the public.
