NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — Sunday was the 35th annual Governor’s Bay Day.

This yearly tradition is aimed at encouraging Rhode Islanders to make their way to the beach.

Gov. Dan McKee and Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management officials were at Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett to greet lifeguards and park staff.

Those who attended got to take part in a variety of family-friendly activities.

Parking was also free at all state beaches and people were able to fish without a license this weekend.
