A Warwick woman has been charged in a ten-million-dollar direct-mail scheme. Forty-seven-year-old Megan Shine faces federal charges of conspiracy and fraud. Prosecutors claim Shine used the U.S. Postal Service to send out mailings suggesting the recipients were entitled to cash and prizes and duped them into sending payments to cover processing.

Proclamation celebrates legacy & memory of Dave Witham with 4th annual Daveapalooza
When a person passes on from this plane of existence, their impact is often very considerable. It can be sensed within their family, their group of friends and their community as a whole. This is a great way to briefly describe the legacy of Proclamation Ale Company founder Dave Witham, who sadly passed away on Christmas Day back in 2020 after a battle with cancer. Ever since this loss, the folks at the brewery, including his wife Lori who now is the owner along with being the Creative Director, have celebrated Witham’s life with an extravagant party called Daveapalooza. This year’s edition is the fourth one, and it’s going to be taking place at the brewery on 274 Kilvert Street in Warwick on July 13 from 12 noon to 6pm.

CPD seeks stolen car that fled from traffic stop
SEEN THIS CAR? The Cranston Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle in the photo, which was reported stolen on June 21 around midnight in Raynham, Massachusetts, according to Cranston Police. Around 4:16 p.m. June 22, an alert was received by the Flock license plate reader system indicating the vehicle was reported stolen and traveling in Cranston, according to a post on Cranston Police Department’s social media accounts. “A Cranston Officer located the vehicle containing two occupants on Elmwood Avenue and attempted to pull it over,” according to police. “The operator refused to stop and the vehicle crossed into Warwick and struck the Officer’s cruiser at the intersection of Manson and Warwick Avenue. The suspects managed to avoid capture. Fortunately, the cruiser only sustained minor damage and the Officer was not injured.
