Dartmouth, MA Month-Long Traffic Delays Begin Tonight
DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — Dartmouth will experience some traffic delays and slowdowns beginning Monday, July 22. Eversource will be replacing the gas main from Patton Street to Metropolitan Street. As a result, traffic delays will happen on Slocum Road from July 22 to August 22, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mark Your Calendar for Nature Photography Contest
Seekonk, MA – The Seekonk Public Library, in partnership with the Seekonk Land Conservation Trust, invite you to submit your digital photos of the beautiful, natural public spaces in town September 3rd through September 23rd. The goal of our fifth annual Nature Photography Contest is to digitally preserve Seekonk’s natural spaces and ecology in concert with existing efforts to conserve the town’s natural beauty. Selected photos will be uploaded to a public Flickr gallery to share views of Seekonk’s landscape and wildlife, creating a digital walking tour of the preserved spaces in town.

Tweens and Teens in rising grades 6 and up, there’s still time to join Seekonk Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge in-person and online! Log into the free Beanstack app to sign up for the “Read, Renew, Repeat” challenge and collect virtual badges for logging your reading, writing reviews, and participating in activities. Each badge earns one or more raffle tickets that you can enter into weekly online drawings as well as a variety of grand prize drawings. 9:59 a.m. – A hatchling fell out of a nest more than 20 feet up on Long Street and was brought to the wildlife clinic. 10:32 a.m. – An apartment resident told police another resident made him uncomfortable by not letting him get into an elevator and “getting into his personal area.” The man did not want to press charges, but said that the other man had harassed various people in the building in the past.

Rhode Island man facing list of charges after shooting himself during altercation at bar
Colonel Michael J. Winquist, Chief of the Cranston Police Department, has announced that a local man is facing multiple charges after a shooting at a local bar. On Saturday, at just after 11:15 p.m., Cranston uniformed officers were working a security detail at 39 West, located at 39 Phenix Avenue in Cranston when they heard a gunshot. The officers then observed two men fighting. Officers immediately separated both men and observed a handgun in the hand of one of the subjects identified as 28-year-old Michael Mancini of Cranston. Officers took Mancini to the ground as he refused to release his grip on the gun and violently resisted arrest. Officers were eventually able to subdue Mancini and seized the loaded handgun that contained a fifteen-round magazine.

North Smithfield Professional Firefighters Local 3984 congratulated Capt. Brian Gartland of B Platoon on his retirement this week. Gartland has served the town of North Smithfield for many decades, working his way through the ranks and retiring as a captain at Station 1. He also served as the department’s fire marshal for many years, and also held the position of fire training officer, where he oversaw the onboarding and training of probationary firefighters after their state academy graduation.

Officers Szteliga and Sullivan-Souza were on patrol when a call came in requesting an ambulance for someone unresponsive in a vehicle on the side of the road. A citizen driving in the area came across the vehicle, put it in park, and dialed 911.
