The Licking County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a man was found dead Thursday.

Deputies responded around 9 a.m. to a report of a body on Ohio 16 near milepost 30, according to the Sheriff's Office. They arrived and found Randall Thomas, 49, of Nashport, dead at the scene.

The office’s crash investigation unit and detectives investigated and say Thomas was walking east along Ohio 16, outside the lane of traffic, and carrying a flashlight when a vehicle, also traveling east, hit him on Wednesday.

Detectives say the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but police have since found them, the release states.

    The crash remains under investigation.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case to call 740-670-5565.
