Elgren to take over as Montana Tech’s provost and executive vice chancellor on July 15
Dr. Tim Elgren will join Montana Technological University as the provost and executive vice chancellor on July 15, 2024. “I am thrilled to join the Montana Tech community and leadership team at this pivotal moment in the University’s history,” Elgren said. “Celebrating its 125th anniversary offers a unique opportunity to honor its extraordinary historical strengths while envisioning innovative programs that best prepare our students for success. As a first-generation college graduate, I am particularly inspired by the deep commitment to access and opportunity that defines Highlands College and Montana Tech–the core values of a public university. Gallatin Valley business wants region to say YES to compost
Karl Johnson, through his Belgrade-based company YES Compost, moves about 20,000 pounds of food scrap each week. With his two other employees, one part-time, one full-time, he runs five routes that service Bozeman, Big Sky, and Yellowstone National Park, collecting organic material including old apple cores, eggshells and coffee grounds, which over the course of a year he’ll turn, rotate, and sift before returning it to people’s gardens as fresh, rich compost.
