Little Rock, AR – Arkansas residents can expect a hot and dry start to the week, with temperatures soaring into the upper 90s and even touching 100 degrees in some areas. Today, Saturday, will see temperatures reach up to 94°F in Little Rock. The heat will continue to build, with Sunday reaching 95°F and Monday expected to hit a high of 97°F.
Arkansas scientists studying medical properties of scorpion venom
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Scientists in Arkansas are researching the potential medical properties of scorpion venom. According to a release, scientists at Arkansas Tech University (ATU) and the University of Arkansas (U of A) have "produced a high-quality genome assembly for a scorpion," which they say could lead to the development of pain treatments.
Police: Man arrested after hitting police officer head-on while intoxicated
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he hit a police officer who was responding to a call head-on. According to Public Information Specialist Sally Smith with the Jonesboro Police Department, at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, Sgt. Brian Arnold was driving in an unmarked car to assist in a shooting incident in Poinsett County when he was hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle.

Organic crops hold promise for state
With U.S. organic food sales topping $63 billion last year, the Center for Arkansas Farms and Food wants to help Arkansas farmers grab a larger share of that market. Arkansas has 107 certified organic farms, most of which are poultry or egg operations, with 19 fruit or vegetable farms, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Two People Killed in Carroll County Traffic Crash
Two people from Berryville are dead after a three vehicle crash in Carroll County Thursday afternoon. According to the report filed by the Arkansas State Police, a pick-up truck driven by 36-year-old Matthew Porter was passing another pick-up along the east ditch line of Highway 21. As Porter's pick-up tried to reenter the roadway, it clipped the other pickup causing Porters' vehicle to spin into the other lane where it collided with a Freightliner truck.
