Gustav Nyquist has been a great story this season. He is generally considered to be a player that can stay healthy and contribute throughout a season, but 2022-23 hit him hard. It was not only tough to play on a bad Columbus Blue Jackets team for the majority of the season, he then got injured and only ended up playing nine games for the Minnesota Wild (including playoffs) after being traded to them.

Prior to last season, Nyquist had only missed six games since the start of the 2014-15 season. He played just 51 games in the regular season in 2022-23 and recorded just 11 goals and 27 points, so his turnaround this season on the Nashville Predators is very impressive.
Nyquist's career high in points was previously 60 set in 2018-19. He split that season between the Detroit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks. By the way the veteran was playing this season, it was only a matter of time until he topped that, and it came in the franchise record-setting game of the team's current 16-game point streak.
Nyquist was at 60 points heading into the game after recording a point to tie his career high in the Predators' previous win. He not only passed it with a 3-0 domination over the Florida Panthers, he recorded two points and pushed his career high to 62 points with 12 games remaining. With how the top line of the Predators are playing, Nyquist should easily be able to reach 70 points this season. The current pace he is on places him at nearly 73 points at the end of the season.
