The Nashville Predators are one of the best defensive teams in the league and have played that style of hockey for a long time. While this doesn't mean that the teams year after year can't score as the Predators have shown on their 17-game point streak this season, it is just a testament to a system, team defense, and most importantly goaltending.

As good as the Predators have been defensively, the team has just four shutouts on the season. They have also come so close by only allowing one goal in 14 of the games as well.

While the Predators have only gotten four shutouts this season, two of them have come back-to-back in the team's previous two games, winning 3-0 against the Florida Panthers and 1-0 against the Detroit Red Wings.

This is the first time Nashville has recorded back-to-back shutouts in over four years. The last time came on March 5 and March 7, 2020, right before the league shut down that season. These shutouts were both thanks to Juuse Saros who blanked the Dallas Stars both times.

These shutouts weren't both due to Saros' play this time though. Kevin Lankinen actually started the first of the back-to-back games against the tougher opponent in Florida and allowed it so it was the first time since Dec. 14 and Dec. 16 of 2017 where two different goalies for the Predators recorded shutouts in back-to-back games. This was done by Saros against the Edmonton Oilers and Pekka Rinne against the Calgary Flames.

Saros is back to his Vezina-caliber form and presumably has many more years in Nashville ahead. There will be a lot more shutouts to come from him as well since he is one of the elite netminders in the game.
