Forsberg Sets Single Season Goal Record for Predators in Convincing Fashion

Filip Forsberg just continues to impress as he has set another record for the Nashville Predators by scoring the most goals in a season in franchise history with 46. Forsberg came into the game against the Chicago Blackhawks tied for the single season lead with 43 goals, but broke that in convincing fashion.

The Swedish sniper opened the scoring in the game with his 44th goals less than six minutes into the contest. He then led off the scoring in the second period nearly 20 minutes of game time after his first goal of the game, finishing off the hat trick at the start of the third period on the power play to really seal the game 5-1.

While the Predators may have already clinched a playoff spot, their wildcard positioning isn't set in stone yet with the Vegas Golden Knights winning as well.

Some may think that this type of season should've happened earlier for Forsberg and he deserved it with the consistent goal scoring he provides the team year after year. Well, in an unlikely season, he has been a driving force for the team's success by showing up every night.

These three goals by Forsberg broke a three game scoreless drought, but he has five goals in his previous five games regardless of that. It is his 10th multi-goal game and second hat trick of the season as well.

Forsberg just broke the single season goal record for the Predators, but out of nowhere he is now within striking distance of the franchise record in points for one season held by Roman Josi. Forsberg has worked his way to 92 points in 80 games and needs 96 to tie the captain who set the franchise record in 2021-22.

Forsberg has a 1.15 points-per-game this season, but over his past 23 games, has recorded 37 points for a 1.60 points-per-game. It isn't out of the realm of possibilities to see the single season record holder in goals for the Predators record four or even five points in the final two games as Nashville finishes the 2023-24 season against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins.
