When speaking of consistency in the NHL, you will likely think of teams that can put together winning seasons year after year, giving themselves a chance at making the playoffs and winning the Stanley Cup.

With 32 teams in the league, winning the Cup just isn't feasible for every good team that can consistently win games. The Nashville Predators are a great example of this as they have one of the five-longest streaks in the NHL without finishing a season with a losing record based on points percentage and have zero Stanley Cups.

The Predators haven't had a losing season since 2012-13, which was a lockout year. Nashville finished the 48-game shortened season with a record of 16-23-9 (.427 P%). This also happened to be the last season in which there were six divisions and five teams in each division.

The four teams with a longer streak without experiencing a losing season are the Pittsburgh Penguins (2005-06), Boston Bruins (2006-07), Tampa Bay Lightning (2009-10), and Minnesota Wild (2011-12). The Vegas Golden Knights haven't had a losing season in their history, but that only began in 2017-18.

The closest the Predators have come to a losing record since 2012-13 was the following season where the team finished six games over .500. In the 11 seasons since, Nashville has won the Presidents' Trophy, lost in the Stanley Cup Final, and qualified for the playoffs nine times.

In the Predators' 25-year history, the team has only finished with a losing record six times, five of which came in the first five seasons after inception. This has been a very solid team that has been managed and coached well throughout. It is unfortunate that it has been more difficult for the Predators to find playoff success, but that could be just on the horizon.
