In a city that’s perhaps better known for its signature hot chicken, Nashville has a surprisingly vast selection of amazing locally-owned pizza places. Whether it’s family pizza night or you’re grabbing food for an office party, these are the top pizza places in Music City that locals are wholeheartedly devoted to.

    Emmy Squared

For a Detroit-style pizza you’ll love, head to Emmy Squared , with four Nashville locations. While this restaurant is also known for its burgers, it’s the pizza we’re here for. Choose from traditional options like the Vodka (house-made vodka sauce, pecorino and fresh basil), or get a little more exotic with something like the Seoul Mate (vegan spicy kimchi, sausage, peppers and mushrooms). Or, of course, you can build your own selecting from a lengthy list of topping options.

    Five Points Pizza

With two Nashville locations, 5 Points Pizza gets its name from the original store in East Nashville’s 5 Points area (the second location is in West Nashville on Charlotte Pike). Start your meal with an order of garlic knots and a salad (they have four on the menu), and then move on to the main event: NY-style pizza! Build your own or choose from any of their create combos. The habanero cream sauce pie is always a hit! Enjoy a beer or other beverage with your meal, and finish things off with a HiFi cookie, another brand locals love.

    Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria

For artisan pizza with a kick, Slim & Husky’s is the way to go. But be warned: there is ALWAYS a line, which should tell you it’s worth the wait! With options like The Smokin’ Herb, S+H Hot Chicken and Fiesta Pizza, you can start to paint the picture that your pizza is going to bring some amazing flavors to your tastebuds.

    Folk

For an elevated pizza experience, head to Folk in East Nashville. You won’t find your standard cheese and pepperoni options here. Instead, look for refined flavors like Littleneck clams, agretti, bonito and lemon (pictured), or asparagus, hen egg, spring garlic and taleggio. While they may seem a little unusual, the combinations of fresh ingredients are what local return for time and again.

    Nicky’s Coal Fired

Billed as “Pizza, Pasta, Cocktails,” let’s get serious about the pizza as this is some of the best in Nashville. Located in West Nashville’s The Nations neighborhood, Nicky’s Coal Fired has the city’s only coal-burning pizza oven. The sourdough crust is the ideal foundation for the flavor combos that await. Choose from red pies or white pies, and gluten-free and vegan options are available as well. And no meal is complete without a housemade cannoli!

    Michaelangelo’s

For a classic-style pizza parlor experience, Michaelangelo’s delivers (figuratively and literally). Conveniently located in Midtown off of Elliston Place, there you’ll find the whole shebang — pizza, calzones, garlic knots, pasta, subs and so much more. You’ll find everything from Hawaiian pizza (ham and pineapple) and classic pepperoni to Mexican Pizza, Philly Cheesesteak Pizza and more. Dine-in or carry-out — either way, you won’t be disappointed.

    NY Pie

NY Pie is exactly as you’d imagine: authentic NY-style pizza right in Music City. With three Middle Tennessee locations, it’s easy to grab a slice wherever you’re located. Owned and operated by actual Yankees, they’re bringing their taste for true New York flavors to the South. Look for hand-tossed or pan pizzas with options like meatball, Margherita, garlic chicken, Greek, veggie and so many more. Grab an appetizer or salad to go with it, and you have the perfect family meal.

    Pizza Perfect

And finally, we’d be remiss if we left out Pizza Perfect . Perhaps the OG of local pizza joints in Nashville, this trusty pizza place has been serving up hot slices — and subs, calzones, pastas and salads — since 1983. With two Nashville locations, Pizza Perfect is reliably consistent and tasty every single time. Start with any of the five housemade sauces and build from there. Or choose a trusty standby like BBQ chicken, Margherita, Pizza Blanc and countless others. Or, you can build your own, selecting from 30+ toppings.
