The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is back, and throngs of music fans are once again headed to Middle Tennessee for a four-day celebration on The Farm.

Why it matters: The festival, majority-owned by Live Nation, remains one of the state's biggest annual tourism draws and regularly attracts big-name performers. This year's lineup includes Post Malone and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

State of play: Travelers will crowd the Nashville airport and Interstate 24 as they make their way to Manchester. The Tennessee Department of Transportation reports more than 65,000 people are expected to attend this year's festival.

Zoom in: As usual, many artists performing this weekend have Nashville ties, including Jason Isbell, Brittany Howard and The Foxies.

    • The Nashville Scene has a full roundup of Music City connections at Bonnaroo.

Threat level: It's going to be scorching hot. A massive heat wave is expected to push into the region, bringing heat index values near 100°F .

The intrigue: If you'd rather enjoy the festivities from the air-conditioned comfort of your living room, Bonnaroo is again partnering with Hulu to stream some performances.

    • Performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Chappell Roan, T-Pain and Post Malone are among several streaming sets.

Be smart: Hulu's streaming won't perfectly align with the Bonnaroo performances. Some will be streamed on a delay or even on a different day, so check the Hulu schedule so you don't miss your favorites.

The bottom line: Whether going to Manchester or staying home, remember to drink lots of water and spend time in the shade.
