NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thousands of Nashville children can receive free breakfast and lunch this summer through the Metro Action Commission’s (MAC) Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

The program is designed to make sure children who normally receive free or reduced lunches during the school year receive nutritious meals during June and July.

Lisa McCrady Beverly, director of communications for the Metro Action Commission, said they provide about 5,000 meals a day at nearly 100 locations throughout Davidson County.

“We wanted to to eliminate as many barriers as possible and to ensure that we have as many sites as possible,” said McCrady Beverly.

A full list of meal sites is available here , or you can text ‘summer meals’ to 97779 to find the closest location.

McCrady Beverly said no identification is required and children can pickup a meal without a guardian present.

The meals are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The agency also has Mobile Youth Café Diners, which are buses that go into communities that do not have programs or facilities where meals can be served.
