Faction46 shows signs of life after replacing driver at Nashville

After being an afterthought for much of the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, Faction46 showed speed and grabbed their second-best finish of the season at Nashville Superspeedway.

The No. 46 truck finished 20th in Friday's Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway, but it wasn't Thad Moffitt behind the wheel.

Instead, 22-year-old Dawson Cram took the reins of the No. 46 truck on Friday. To fans' surprise, Moffitt released a statement that he would not be driving the No. 46 truck in Nashville on Friday afternoon.

While Moffitt said in the statement that he hopes to be back in the No. 46 truck at Pocono, his seat could get warm after Cram's solid effort in Nashville.

Not only did Cram manage a top-20 finish, but he rebounded after being spun out earlier in the race on a chaotic restart, making his drive back to the middle of the pack all the more impressive. Cram managed to stay on the lead lap for the entirety of Friday's race, earning the team's third lead-lap finish.

Cram qualified the No. 46 truck for the event in 24th place, the third-highest starting position for Faction46 all season.

While Moffitt will likely retain his seat with Faction46 for the rest of the 2024 season — after all, it was Moffitt who the team was built around in the off-season — his driving future in 2025 could be shaky if he fails to meet the standard set by Cram at Nashville.

Moffitt will potentially return to the No. 46 truck at Pocono on July 12.
