Who won the NASCAR race today? Full results, standings from 2024 Ally 400 in Nashville

It was anything but a conventional ending for NASCAR in Nashville.

Drivers dealt with a rain delay and then five overtime sessions that extended the race over 30 laps on Sunday. The Ally 400 added another 40 miles to the event due to multiple late stoppages.

NASCAR attempts to have a clean ending, so if there's a yellow caution flag late in the race, it will enter overtime. If officials raise a caution flag in overtime, the session is stopped and extended.

Between the added two laps for each overtime period, teams had to take a few trips around the track before restarting the official race. Some cars were low on fuel, which resulted in pit stops and ultimately losing their place.

Most of the top 11 drivers had to either bet that they had enough fuel or forfeit their chance at winning the race.

Luckily for Joey Logano, his gamble paid off.

Who won the NASCAR race today?

Logano won the Ally 400 after numerous overtime sessions. He essentially ran on empty after driving about 110 laps without pitting for fuel.

Still, Logano had enough gas left in the tank for a burnout.

Not everyone was as lucky as Logano. Kyle Busch ran out of fuel and crashed out of the race during overtime, while Denny Hamlin pitted and finished 12th after leading late.

Logano's only other win this season came at the NASCAR All-Star race on Sunday, May 19.
