Denny Hamlin predicts Harrison Burton will retaliate on Carson Hocevar in the future

Denny Hamlin believes a feud is brewing between Harrison Burton and Carson Hocevar, stemming from an incident in Nashville over the weekend.

During the latest episode of his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin predicted Burton will retaliate against Hocevar in the future, after the No. 77 wheelman decided to wreck the No. 21 under caution, causing a firestorm of opinions to come to light.

“Carson’s going to be part of the Cup Series for a very long time. But sometimes you need a sit down to say, ‘We’re not going to put up with this,’ and usually it happens, things like this happen through self-policing,” Hamlin stated. “Other drivers, like Harrison Burton, would go in the next few weeks, and he’ll knock Carson up the race track, or he’ll spin him out. You know, it self-polices that way.

“But the series itself, they do not — when the caution is out, the caution is out. That means stop all the bullshit, right? No matter what. So I think that they’ll definitely look at it, and my guess is they’ll do something about it.”

Evidently, Hamlin believes Burton will take matters into his own hands, but there’s still a likely possibility that Hocevar will be punished by NASCAR for the incident, as well. Whether it’s in the form of a fine or points remains to be seen.

Regardless, Carson Hocevar and Harrison Burton haven’t exactly been racing for wins, but Denny Hamlin believes it’ll be rewarding to keep an eye on the two young drivers whenever they’re near each other on the track moving forward.

Moreover, incident occurred with 56 laps remaining in the final stage of the race, Hocevar bothered by the way Burton had been racing him.

“He’s wrecked you under green, he’s wrecked you under caution” Burton was told on the radio.

Burton replied: “I’m f***ing over. I’m done with it. He just wrecked me under caution because I blocked him on the backstretch. He can kiss my ass.”

Burton later wrecked out of the race for good, finishing 28th. Hocevar, meanwhile, came out with a P16 finish. After the race, Burton described the situation from his perspective.

“I don’t know, he blocks everyone every week and I blocked him once and he decided to try and wreck me under yellow,” Burton said. “So, I don’t know. He’s on a lot of people’s lists as guys they don’t like racing. So, it kind of shows you why.”
