You never know what dive bar might have celebrities lurking in them. And some folks visiting Nashville are lucky enough to be in the same dive bar when those celebrities jump on stage for an impromptu performance. Kacey Musgraves is back on the town only a few days after taking the stage at Robert's Western World
following her performance with Zach Bryan . She is doing what musicians do best and joining some folks on stage at dive bars around Nashville, most recently gracing the stage of The Underdog. Musgraves hopped on stage with Kristina Murray, and the two laid down a cover of the Merle Haggard classic "The Bottle Let Me Down." Released in 1966 as the second single from the album Swinging Doors, "The Bottle Let Me Down" is a Merle classic that was later recorded by Porter Wagoner as well. Dressed in the same jean shorts she wore at Roberts and a cowboy hat, Musgraves returned to her country as cornbread roots for this cover. "I've always had a bottle I could turn to And lately, I've been turnin' every day
But the wine don't take effect the way it used to And I'm hurtin' in an old familiar way..." During the chorus, she brought in Kristina, and the two laid down flawless harmonies while sharing the microphone on the small dive bar stage. When the band takes over during the bridge, laying down some killer steel guitar riffs, Musgraves dances around the stage before saying into the mic: "Take me home... ah, country f***in' music." Murray then sings a verse, powerfully delivering the lyrics with a thick twang that mimics those of the female country music pioneers. The two women join back together to round out the song, and the audience goes wild. "Tonight the bottle let me down And let your memory come around
The one true friend I thought I'd found Tonight the bottle let me down.." While the bar might not have been packed for the random Tuesday night, the crowd knew they got an intimate treat. Only in Nashville. And we can't forget the original version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PCL9W54QVw&pp=ygUWdGhlIGJvdHRsZSBsZXQgbWUgZG93bg%3D%3D </div>
