On Thursday it was announced that former Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets safety Jamal Adams had agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans. Now, we are aware of what said terms look like.

According to Ari Meirov and the Titans Wire, Tennessee will be signing Adams to a one-year deal worth $1.125 million – the veteran minimum. Certainly a far cry from the four-year, $72 million dollar extension the Seahawks gave him in the 2021 offseason.

Jamal Adams is on a mission to rehabilitate his career. After a strong inuagural season in Seattle, one where he recorded 9.5 sacks, he never lived up to the high bar he set for himself. His 2021 was lackluster, his 2022 ended after the first game thanks to a torn quad, and his 2023 was off and on as he battled to even stay on the field due to injuries.

For Tennessee, this could be an incredible bargain for them. At this point, signing a former three-time Pro Bowler and one time All-Pro to such a low contract is a low risk, high reward situation. If Adams is able to remain somewhat healthy, and the Titans are able to utilize his skillset as a pass rusher more than Seattle did the last three years, then he could be a key asset for their defense.

If things don’t work out, well, it’s not like Tennessee is trapped with a weighty contract.

Still, Adams is only 28. Injuries have likely taken a few years off his NFL shelf life, but perhaps a change in scenery and defensive ideology can help get his career back on track.
