When more than 40,000 fans poured into Nissan Stadium this June for nightly shows during CMA Fest, they knew they’d get to see Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, and Lainey Wilson. But when Post Malone and Blake Shelton popped up on a satellite stage in the stadium on the first night of the festival to sing “Pour Me a Drink,” the moment created one of the most memorable surprise performances of the event.
Malone has long been vocal about his love of country music and has shared that adoration on his social media pages. He revealed plans for his collaborative country album F-1 Trillion in June – after he and Morgan Wallen had already charted their multi-week No. 1 hit “I Had Some Help.”
At this point, Malone doesn’t feel like a country music interloper but someone who truly appreciates the genre and its fans. Here are four of Malone’s most memorable country music moments – starting with the Shelton duet at CMA Fest.

Country Music fans roared when Post Malone emerged on the satellite stage in the floor seats in the middle of the audience at Nissan Stadium. He ripped into a solo version of “I Had Some Help,” which usually features Wallen. However, Wallen wasn’t present. He jumped off the stage and walked through the crowd, much to the delight of those within arm’s reach.
Then he introduced Shelton to sing “Pour Me A Drink,” which sounds like it could have come from any of Shelton’s albums. Yet, it is officially Malone’s alcoholic anthem.
Following their CMA Fest Nissan Stadium performance, the men made another surprise appearance- this time at Shelton’s Ole Red on Nashville’s Lower Broadway to sing the song again.

Post Malone with Morgan Wallen and HARDY at the 2023 CMA Awards
Post Malone, HARDY, and Morgan Wallen delivered one of the most nostalgic performances at the CMA Awards in 2023 when the men covered a medley of Joe Diffie hits. At the time, it was among Malone’s most high-profile country appearances. Wallen and HARDY took Diffie’s “John Deere Green,” and Malone jumped in on Diffie’s “Pickup Man.”
Post Malone Makes Solo Country Debut at ACM Awards
In May, Post Malone stepped out for his solo debut on a country awards show when he performed his richly traditional country “Never Love You Again” at the 59th ACM Awards. Steel guitar took the spotlight in the heartbreaker, and when the song was over, Malone said no one had ever heard it before. Then, he twisted the bill of his ballcap to the side of his head and did a solo version of “I Had Some Help.”

About one month after Toby Keith’s death following an extended battle with stomach cancer, Malone paid tribute to the beloved Oklahoman during a performance at the American Rodeo in Arlington, Texas, on March 9.
Malone poured a drink into a red Solo cup, the first possible nod to Keith. Then he kicked off a cover of Keith’s hit “As Good As I Once Was” for the Texas rodeo fans.
At this point, the performance has almost 438,000 hearts.
Post Malone Covers Brad Paisley
Three years ago, Malone made one of his most high-profile declarations of adoration of country music yet when he covered Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishing Song)” and Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have The Crown.”
Paisley later gave Malone his full-on stamp of approval, which Malone gushed was meaningful to him. Because of the expletive, we can share the exact quote.
Their warm relationship continues. In April, Malone welcomed Paisley on stage during his set at Stagecoach.
Paisley asked the crowd, “How’s he doing?” Then he added, “I think he’s made for this.”
Paisley also joined Malone to cover Vince Gill’s “One More Last Chance.”
Malone’s country album F-1 Trillion will be available on August 16.
