One man is dead and another is in stable condition after a domestic-related shooting in East Nashville's Inglewood neighborhood.

Nashville police were called to a home in the 2100 block of Burns Street at about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday in reference to the shooting.

Police said Carson Denny, 38, arrived at the Burns Street residence of step-brother Chandler Barnes, 27 where he approached holding a gun demanding to enter the home as Barnes' fiancé was exiting the home.

Once inside, police said Denny shot Barnes and then returned to a rental pickup truck.

As Barnes' fiancé attempted to get him out of the home to take him to the hospital, police say Denny fired additional shots at Barnes, striking him multiple times.

Denny then returned to the truck where he fatally shot himself. A nine millimeter pistol was recovered from Denny's lap.

Barnes was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Police said the two had not seen each other for three years and had no known issues. The motive for the incident remains under investigation.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
