    Pedestrian killed in collision along Gallatin Pike, Metro police say

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashvillian died after he was reportedly hit by a vehicle while trying to cross a street Saturday night.

    According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the collision happened outside of a crosswalk at the intersection of Gallatin Pike and Walton Lane at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 20.

    Authorities said the preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was attempting to cross Gallatin Pike on the south side of the intersection when he was struck. He died at the scene.

    The driver reported he had a green light as he traveled through the intersection, according to officials.

    Police said there was no evidence or drug or alcohol involvement at the scene of the incident.

    Law enforcement only described the pedestrian as a 48-year-old Nashville man, adding that efforts to notify his next of kin are still ongoing.
