    Crews extinguish small train fire in East Nashville

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Firefighters worked to extinguish a small fire that broke out inside a locomotive in East Nashville early Monday morning.

    Crews with the Nashville Fire Department were sent to Curdwood Boulevard just after 5 a.m. on Monday, July 22, to respond to a train incident.

    Fire officials at the scene told News 2 that a small fire broke out in the train’s second engine. However, crews were able to put it out quickly with handheld extinguishers.

    According to personnel, CSX said they felt safe to keep the train moving with one remaining engine after the flames were extinguished.

    It remains unclear if the fire was caused by an electrical or hydraulic issue. No other information was released.
