Tennessee Titans plan on making big change for 2024 preseason games

During the tenure of former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, starters barely played during the preseason, if they played at all.

But that is expected to change in 2024, as new head coach Brian Callahan revealed the starters will see snaps during the exhibition slate, and he plans on playing them for all three preseason games.

"Our team needs to play football together — we have a lot of new faces, new people here," Callahan said, per Jim Wyatt . "Our starters will play, and they'll play enough, is probably the best way to put it. … We'll see what that looks like lengthwise."

As Callahan notes, the Titans have a ton of new players on both sides of the ball after a busy offseason that saw overhauls at multiple position groups.

More specifically, Tennessee is installing a new offense and Will Levis will have two new targets to get on the same page with in Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd. Practice will no doubt help, but there is nothing like getting actual game reps, which the preseason affords.

Granted, playing starters in the preseason leaves a chance that someone will get hurt, but this approach will also help the Titans avoid a sluggish start to the regular season. It will also serve as a great way to evaluate players vying for starting roles.
