Brian Callahan raises the stakes for Will Levis as Titans training camp begins

NASHVILLE -- New head coach Brian Callahan knows that quarterback Will Levis will makes mistakes in training camp practices. All Callahan asks is that the potential future of the Tennessee Titans learns from them as they go.

Stakes are already raised for Levis as he enters Year 2.

Will Levis Starts Camp Strong

"Very pleased," said Callahan of his quarterback on Thursday. "I think Will's (Levis) doing a great job playing on time. Obviously, we're focused on a little bit more of the timing elements, the shorter passing game. But man, he's been really impressive. I think his hard work this offseason and over the summer has really paid off. He's incredibly confident right now, and he's earned that confidence. "

Tennessee held its first two days of camp this week. The team will work in a closed session on Friday before an open practice at Nissan Stadium with fans in attendance on Saturday.

Callahan looks for a heightened sense of command and urgency from all of his quarterbacks right now. Organized team activities and mandatory minicamps allow for the ramp up, but there are no training wheels once camp arrives. The day-to-day grind of more practices and playing more as a unit requires the quarterback to make sure his offense operates with heightened urgency and consistency.

Less experimentation at practice, more emphasis on locking down the details and expectations that come with the job.

"Every day that (Levis) comes out and plays well, he earns more confidence," Callahan said. "I think that that's the fun part about where he's at. He's dialed in. He has studied. You can just tell he's ready for what's ahead, and I told him yesterday, if he keeps stacking days like he had yesterday and today, he's going to play pretty good football. It's a day-by-day process, and we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves. But, I've been really pleased with where he's at."
