2 injured after apparent robbery attempt results in shooting on Alabama Avenue

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville authorities are investigating an apparent robbery attempt involving approximately 22 pounds of marijuana that led to a Thursday evening shooting, which left two men injured.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooting took place around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 in the 3900 block of Alabama Avenue. Officers from the West Precinct responded to the scene, but they didn’t find anybody who was hurt.
Officials said a 22-year-old Nashville man drove his Dodge Durango to the Mapco in the 1500 block of 21st Avenue South, where officers from the Midtown Hills Precinct responded to the scene and rendered aid before he was transported to the nearby Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Police announced on Friday, July 26 the 22-year-old was critically injured in the shooting, but he is expected to recover.
Authorities said they also responded to Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown, where a second man had walked in with a gunshot wound to his arm.
During the investigation at the Mapco, detectives reportedly found a handgun and bundles of marijuana in the first man’s Dodge Durango. In addition, multiple cartridge casings were recovered on Alabama Avenue.
Police said they believe both men were injured during the shooting on Alabama Avenue. However, the investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
