Trump Says He Would Have Prevented Deadly Attacks on Israel: ‘This Would Never Have Happened’

Former President Donald Trump addressed the apparent terror attack against Israeli children who were playing soccer on Saturday after they were struck by rockets the country’s government said were fired by Hezbollah.

During the Bitcoin Conference 2024 in Nashville, Trump took to the stage and addressed the horrific attack, which reportedly left 12 dead, all children and teens, and scores of others wounded.

The White House has condemned the attack and reaffirmed American support for Israel against Hezbollah.

Before delivering his keynote address to the annual gathering, Trump briefly acknowledged the attack, which occurred in the Golan Heights village of Majdal Shams.

“A lot of things are happening in the world, we just heard – you probably heard – that Israel was just attacked,” Trump said. “Very severely attacked. Hezbollah, it looks like.”

Trump claimed the attack would not have happened if he had been president Saturday and said that if he is elected in November he would restore peace in the region.

“They have to respect us,” he said. Trump concluded:

They cannot do this. They cannot do this. What they did just now with that attack is terrible. It just happened. So to all, God bless everybody. This is so serious. They have to respect our country. This would never have happened with us. And we just cannot let it continue. So, we just wish them all a lot of luck. This just happened as I was walking on the stage. Most of you have probably heard about it, but it’s a terrible thing.

It is the deadliest attack on Israeli civilians since the heinous surprise terror attacks by Hamas on civilian targets on October 7 of last year. The Israeli government says that the dozen or more killed were children and teenagers between 10 and 20 years of age.

Israel had yet to respond militarily as of the time of publication but there were fears the country’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza could spread to Lebanon, where Hezbollah is based.

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a statement to the press, “This is a very serious incident and we will act accordingly.”
