NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 19-year-old who was wanted for multiple offenses, including shooting a man in the eye in East Nashville, is now in police custody.

Police said the shooting occurred on June 18 in the 300 block of Dellway Villa Road. Sanders was reportedly identified as the suspect who shot the victim at a distance.

An arrest report states surveillance footage in the area captured Sanders pull out a firearm and open fire toward an apartment complex, striking multiple vehicles.

Authorities said the victim and a witness were in a vehicle when the shooting occurred. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including to the eye, and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

After the shooting, detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said they began to conduct surveillance on Sanders and spotted him enter an Audi sedan on Hickory Hills Boulevard on Monday, July 29.

Detectives said they attempted to spike the Audi but it turned around toward an apartment complex. That’s when Sanders allegedly exited the vehicle through the passenger side while holding his waist band.
