    Significant heat with strong storms continue this week

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Dangerous heat continues in our area, but storms will be added to the mix on Thursday into Friday. This weekend, prepare for a temporary bout of heat relief.

    Severe outlook

    The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a risk from today to Saturday morning.

    Today through 7 AM Friday, a Marginal Risk (1/5) for areas mainly along/north of I-40 & I-840, and a Slight Risk (level 2/5) in Southern KY. On Friday, a Marginal Risk (1/5) for nearly all of Southern Kentucky and most of Middle Tennessee, with the threat best east of I-65.

    Through Saturday morning, the primary storm threats are damaging winds and heavy rain. Hail and even an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out with any storm.

    Dangerous heat increasing

    Dangerous heat is another concern this week. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for Henry, Carroll, Benton, Trigg, and Christian Counties until 8 p.m. Thursday. A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of Middle TN and Southern KY from now until 7 p.m. Thursday.

    Thursday, feels like temps could range from 100-115. If you are working or playing outdoors, you should wear light-colored clothing and a hat, take frequent breaks in the shade, and drink plenty of water.

    Thursday

    A few morning storms are possible Thursday, but most of the day is dry and very hot! Temperatures in the middle to upper 90s, feeling like as high as 110°.

    Friday

    A few morning storms will be possible Friday. Daytime heating sends temperatures in the 90s. More storms move through Friday with a cold front in the afternoon and evening.

    After this front moves through, a slight drop in the humidity is expected for the weekend. However, it will remain warm. Hotter temperatures return again next week.
