Alexei Pergande Aims to Remain Undefeated in Front of Home Crowd

Alexei Pergande continues to find success in the Professional Fighters League and now has an opportunity to keep building on it in his own backyard. The 2022 PFL Challenger Series winner has four professional fights in his career, all of which have come with the PFL. He owns a 4-0 record, with two submission victories.
Coming into PFL 7 this Friday in Nashville, Tennessee, Pergande will have an opportunity to continue to build on his undefeated record in front of a home crowd. Speaking at his team’s media day, Pergande discussed the importance of continuing his winning streak and what it means to be back in his native Tennessee.
“Keeping my undefeated record is very important,” he said. “Every time I go out there, I want to win. You also get paid more, right? It’s all about going in there, performing and doing a dominant performance in front of my hometown.”
Having been on the sideline for nearly a full year while he recovered from injuries, Pergande used a patient approach and managed to land a fight in his hometown.
“I was actually offered to fight in March for Bellator, but I was dealing with a little bit of injuries,” he said. “It wasn’t the smartest fight to take back then, so I just wanted to heal 100%, get back to my regime and get back to training. I stayed patient with it, and I’m really happy that I did because this Nashville card, [with this being] the first time [the] PFL is in Nashville, it can’t get better than that.”
Continuing on his career path and sticking with the PFL is an opportunity that Pergande doesn’t take lightly. He embraces the reality that he has been with the promotion from his first professional fight.
“I’m so grateful to [be with them] from the very first fight,” he said. “Not many people can stay in PFL since their debut, and I’m one of those guys that have done that. PFL debuts only happen one time ever, and I was there and I was the [Challenger Series] contract winner. It’s super amazing to grow with this huge promotion [and] keep growing as a martial artist. We’re going to see where this thing goes.”
With three of his four fights having taken place in August, Pergande believes there will be another special performance to come. He hopes to be more active moving forward.
“I love fighting,” Pergande said. “I really wish I could get a little bit more fights. I feel like I just only fight in August for some reason. August has been my lucky month. I’ve always been fighting in August, so I guess we know what’s going to happen this August.”
