Vanderbilt's Veronica Fraley just missed the cut for the final in the women's discus competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday.

Fraley's best throw was 62.54 meters, which placed 13th among those in the qualifying round. The top 12 competitors, along with anyone who threw the qualifying standard, advanced to the final.

Fraley threw 63.66 meters at the NCAA championships in June, which won her the event. That distance would have placed eighth among Paris competitors.

She is one of two athletes with Vanderbilt ties competing at the Paris Olympics. The other is Lily Williams, a former Commodores cross country and track athlete who now competes in track cycling.

Fraley went viral on Thursday for saying on social media that Vanderbilt did not pay her enough money to cover her rent, but she said Friday that she was able to pay rent with help from severals who offered it after her original post, including Flavor Flav.
