Inspired by a conversation with the actor, the lyrics personify death as an old man. These words started to hit closer to home when the country singer announced that he’d been diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Toby Keith passed away on February 5, 2024. He’d been struggling with his illness for two years. Beloved by family and fans alike, this is one artist who has left behind a legacy to be proud of.
