At Least 4 Deaths Reported on Minnesota Roads Since Monday
(KROC-AM News) - There have now been at least four traffic deaths reported in Minnesota since Monday. The most recent tragic incident occurred 10:45 AM Tuesday in far western Minnesota. This race there were no WISSOTA Modifieds, but were WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Hornets, Pure Stocks, Late Models, Supers and Northern Renegade Sprint Cars. At intermission there were kids power wheel races which were also very competitive. Mavrik Wohlers, Kyah Krzoska, Colt Broking and Kane Massingill all had a great time and made it to victory lane in their power wheels getting an early start to their future racing career! Minnesota Looking to Increase Numbers of This Animal
The Minnesota DNR in collaboration with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa plan to move elk from the northwestern part of the state to the northeastern part of the state near Cloquet and north. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says the plan is to transfer 15 to 20 elk from the northwestern part of the state to the northeastern part with the hopes of growing the herd. Schmitt says elk used to live in that part of the state many years ago. He explains the plan is to do this annually starting in 2026 until the elk reproduce on their own.
