Siena Track Teams among best in the nation; earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS, LA – For the ninth straight year, the Siena Track teams both earned All-Academic honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The women's program held the distinction of earning the top spring 2024 term GPA among all 21 Siena College athletic programs with an impressive 3.85 GPA. Their cumulative GPA of 3.74 ranked fifth nationally among NCAA Division I Women's Track and Field teams under head coach Elizabeth DeBole behind only Arizona, Utah, Creighton and Utah State. Harris holds her first fundraiser as the likely Democratic nominee as donors open their wallets
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris used her first fundraiser since becoming the Democrats’ likely White House nominee to excoriate the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as determined to roll back Americans’ freedoms. Harris traveled to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday where she was expected to raise more than $1.4 million, her campaign announced, from an audience of hundreds at the Colonial Theatre. That would be $1 million-plus more than the original goal set for the event before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. She told an excited group of supporters that she entered the race as an “underdog,” while expressing confidence that her surging campaign could defeat Trump. “I will fight to move our nation forward,” Harris said. “Donald Trump intends to take our country backwards.”

TROY, NY (July 26) – Mayor Carmella Mantello announced today that Moody’s Investor Service gave an A1 rating for the City of Troy’s new $8 million in Public Improvement (Serial) Bonds, which are subject to reimbursement. These bonds will allow for infrastructural improvements such as drainage repairs, new sidewalks, paving and more.

THEN & NOW: Riverside Cemetery in North Egremont
Riverside Cemetery in North Egremont dates back to the early days of settlement by Dutch and English descendants. The cropped, close-up photograph of the old gateway entrance shown above and the complete panoramic view shown immediately below were taken by the Baldwin family that owned a Great Barrington piano and music store in the early 1900s. They later moved to California and returned to their former home on Baldwin Hill for a visit in the 1940s. The Baldwins had ancestors buried in the cemetery. The photograph features the only known image of the old entrance gate that eventually deteriorated and was torn down many decades ago. A present-day view of the cemetery is also shown below.
