CHICAGO, IL - As the Democratic National Convention (DNC) gets underway in Chicago, anti-Israel protests have already made a significant impact, disrupting events and raising concerns about security that is supposed to keep everyone safe throughout the week. On Sunday, protesters interrupted a delegate welcome party at the Navy Pier, marking the start of what they have promised will be a series of intensifying actions aimed at drawing attention to the demands of the Anti-Israel demontrators.

According to reporters, demontrators waving Palestinian flags shouted the warning, “DNC go home. Or we’re gonna bring the war home.”

The protests began late Sunday afternoon, with demonstrators marching through the streets of Chicago, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans. The situation escalated when protesters managed to enter the venue where the DNC welcome party was being held. A masked demonstrator took to the stage, seizing a microphone to accuse the attendees of "funding a genocide," referring to U.S. support for Israel. The protester was quickly removed by security, but the incident underscored the tensions surrounding the convention.

Outside the event, other demonstrators warned that this disruption was only the beginning. A video of the protest was shared on social media by the group @directactions4palestine, which has been organizing the demonstrations. The post described the event as a "disruption" and declared that "Gaza will be heard." The group's social media also directed followers to a Telegram channel named "Shutdown the DNC," suggesting further coordinated actions are planned in Chicago.

On Monday afternoon, the Coalition to March on the DNC organized a protest starting at Union Park, focusing on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. This demonstration is part of a broader series of protests expected throughout the week. At least five additional anti-Israel rallies have been publicly announced, with others likely to occur without prior notice.

Earlier on Monday, the United States Palestinian Community Network led another demonstration at Union Park. Protesters also gathered downtown over the weekend to advocate for LGBTQ and abortion rights, indicating the convergence of various activist groups in the lead-up to the convention.

Chicago Police Department Superintendent Larry Snelling addressed the situation during a presentation to the City Club of Chicago on Monday. He reassured residents that while traffic disruptions and a heightened police presence are expected, there is no need to fear going about daily activities. Snelling emphasized that the city is prepared to handle the protests, with additional officers, bike patrols, and other security measures in place.

However, the intensity of the protests has led to questions about whether the security measures will be sufficient. Hatem Abudayyeh, a spokesman for the March on the DNC, stated that if the government does not take action against Israel, protesters will continue their efforts to disrupt the convention. This statement has heightened concerns about the potential for further unrest as the week progresses.

As the DNC continues, Chicago remains on alert, with officials monitoring the situation closely. The city's preparations will be tested as the week unfolds, with the possibility of further disruptions looming over the convention.

As the protest wrapped up Sunday night, some protesters chanted, “From the river to the sea,” which the Anti-Defamation League labels as a call for the destruction of Israel.

The real travesty is that the “all inclusive” AIPAC beholden democratic elites won’t let pro-Palestinians speak!
