    Chicago Police Release Footage of Thieves Targeting North Side Businesses

    Video shows group breaking into multiple Chicago locations, stealing cash, merchandise

    CHICAGO, IL — Chicago police have released new surveillance footage this week capturing a group of individuals breaking into a local business and stealing cash. The suspects are believed to be connected to a series of seven burglaries across the North Side, where they targeted various establishments by smashing front windows to gain entry.

    According to authorities, the incidents all occurred on September 1st, with the thieves primarily focusing on stealing cash from registers and tip jars. In addition to the stolen cash, the video footage also shows the suspects taking additional merchandise from one of the businesses.

    The targeted locations include:

    • The 2200 block of North Clark Street, between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m.
    • The 2400 block of North Lincoln Avenue, between 2 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
    • The 1500 block of West Montrose, at 2:56 a.m.
    • The 2000 block of North Lincoln Park West, at 3:25 a.m.
    • The 1500 block of West Jarvis Avenue, at 4 a.m.
    • The 4700 block of North Damen Avenue, at 4:31 a.m. and again at 4:38 a.m.

    Police described the offenders as three to four Black males, dressed in dark clothing, hooded sweatshirts, and gloves. They were last seen leaving the scene in a silver or black Kia Soul.

    Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact the Bureau of Detectives – Area 3 at (312) 744-8263.
